Improving the safety of prenatal genetic diagnosis and increasing the detecting ratio of developmental defects.

The purpose of the Project is to establish a Prenatal Diagnosis Centre in Zilina, with the overall objective of providing a national model for accurate, effective and safe services of prenatal genetic diagnosis and detecting of developmental defects. Reference is made to the application dated 1 July 2008 and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1. Purchase of technical equipment for ultrasound testing; 2. Increasing the number of examined biochemical markers; 3. Purchase of supplementary equipment in the cytogenetic laboratory; 4. Ensuring the project operation using ALPHA software and 5. Management and publicity. The Project Promoter is the Foundation Zrak (Nadacia Zrak). Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with Capio Laboratory medicine Norway and the Hospital of Zilina. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Slovak government shall provide at least 10 percent of the estimated eligible project cost.
