The purpose of the Project is to develop and implement a management strategy based on detailed research carried out in three pilot areas, with the overall objective of ensuring protection of biodiversity in historical structures of agricultural landscapes (HSAL), according to sustainable development principles. Reference is made to the application dated 4 July 2008 and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Field mapping of HSAL across Slovakia; - Research of HSAL in 3 representative pilot areas; - Evaluation of research results in the 3 chosen pilot areas; - Elaboration of management strategy; - Implementation of management strategy; - Project management & publicity. The Project Promoter is the Institute of Landscape Ecology of Slovak Academy of Sciences (ILE SAS). Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Slovak Government provides at least 15 percent of the total estimated eligible Project costs.
