Slovak Digital Library - detached worksite SNK, Vrútky

The purpose of the Project is the establishment of a digitisation worksite for the digitisation of manuscripts and prints, with the overall objective of ensuring the protection, long-term preservation and the broad accessibility of movable cultural heritage objects in Slovakia. Reference is made to the application dated 17 March 2006, and to correspondence with the Focal Point dated 16 February 2007 and 18 May 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - renovation (adaptation and modernisation) of building no. 2 of the Slovak Digital Library in Vrútky; - installation of the necessary infrastructure; - equipping the worksite for digitisation; - procurement activities; - storage facilities for the long-term archiving of digital content; and - installation of an optical cable: an ICT network linking building no. 2 of the Slovak Digital Library in Vrútky with the main building of the Slovak National Library in Martine. The Project Promoter is the Slovak National Library. The Project will be implemented in partnership with the University of Žilina, who will mainly be involved in the technical aspects of the Project implementation. The Focal Point shall ensure that the State budget of the Slovak Republic will provide at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
