A project is needed because we believe that access to free health services is the foundation for a dignified life for all. After more than 20 years of announcing, promises and unsuccessful attempts, Gibanje Svoboda filed a law to abolish supplementary health  insurance. The adoption of the law is very likely and is expected to take place before the summer with the application of the law on September 1, 2023. At the first analysis of the proposal, we, at Research Institute 8th of March, found that certain reproductive  rights, rights protected by the Slovenian Constitution, had fallen out of the rights of compulsory health insurance. This would mean thate.g. artificial termination of pregnancy would become self-paying. The established fact has already been  ublicly recognized as an error by the proponents of the law, and questions of the appropriate record of other rights are also raised. The law abolishing supplementary health insurance must clearly ensure that our rights do not shrink when supplementary  ealth insurance is abolished. Due to the poor definition of rights in the law, some health services may become self-paying. With the project Prevention of reduction of reproductive and other health rights in the process of abolition of supplementary health  nsurance, we will: 1. make a thorough analysis of the proposed law in order to determine whether the proposal really includes all the rights that supplementary and compulsory insurance currently provide,2. make a proposal for an appropriate record of  rights3. and create public pressure to adopt an appropriate solution. What rights derive from compulsory health insurance is an issue that affects all residents of Slovenia.
