The project addresses the challenge of weak inclusion and weak social participation of disadvantaged families in two different segments: the first segment consists of migrant families from Turkey that are living in Slovenia and cannot return to their country of origin; the second segment consists of socially deprived families with a Slovene ethnic identity. The main applicant will be reasponsable for the reach out to the Slovenian families while the project partner will reach out to Turskish families (this is the organization of Turkish community in Slovenia).
The key challenges that the project is addressing are strengthening the competencies of two target groups and acceptance of these target groups by the general public in Slovenia. This will be addressed through done through the process of discussion groups, family camps and e-learning, individuals from these families will be trained to build communities and advocate for their own needs in society. Some of them will also become agents of change within their communities and beyond. The two target groups (Slovenian and Turkish families) and the general public will benefit from this project. The approaches developed in the preparatory group will also be used by other organizations, parishes, informal groups and families that will not be directly involved in the project.
The expected results of the project are: more contacts between members of vulnerable target groups, their increased capacity for community building and advocacy; and development of tools, methods and approaches that will be used by other NGOs and less prejudices towards these target groups amongst the general public.
Partner from Norway will contribute to the project with it's expertize on working with volunarble groups and reaching out to the community.
