Strengthening the capacity of the Romanian law enforcement agencies to prevent and investigate Internet child pornography cases

The purpose of the Project is training of the Romanian Police in dealing with and investigating child pornography cases and increasing public awareness, with the overall objective of strengthening the capacity of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police to prevent and investigate internet child pornography cases. Reference is made to the application dated 15 December 2008, and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - project management, - study visits to Norway and France, - purchase of Information Technology (IT) equipment, - implementation of a prevention campaign, awareness raising and publicity, and - staff training. The Project Promoter is the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police. Subject to national law the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Norwegian National Police Directorate and the Interpol in Lyon France. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Romanian Ministry of Administration and Interior provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
