Restoration of the 5th gate - the Vanubian Citadel/Fortification in Alba Iulia

The purpose of the Project is to restore the 5th gate of the Citadel in Alba Iulia, with the overall objective of having a good practice example of heritage rehabilitation and facilitating integration of young unemployed and/or disadvantaged persons in the local community. Reference is made to the application form dated 27 August 2008, and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - project management, including project evaluation and public procurement of a construction company, the management team/local coordinator, and a training company; - training of Post-Institutionalised Young Adults (PIYA); and - construction works to the 5th gate, including the brick tunnel, stone and wood elements, the wooden bridge, and exterior arrangements to the entrance, and the employment of PIYA by the construction company. The Project promoter is the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs. Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Alba Iulia Municipality and the UNDP. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter shall provide at least 18.87 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
