Initiative "Qualification and Rehabilitation of Critical Urban Areas" - Lagarteiro

The purpose of the Project is to improve the quality of life of the Lagarteiro neighborhood by empowering residents and improving living conditions, with the overall objective to improve the social, economic and infrastructural situation in degenerated urban areas in Portugal. Reference is made to the application dated 17 June 2008 and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Rehabilitation of the neighborhood (buildings, public spaces and new equipment), - Acquisition of a building for the ANIMAR (Attract, Negotiate, Incentive, Mobilise, Activate, Reintegrate) neighborhood centre activities, - Preparation and animation of the ANIMAR project activities, - Setting up of a local technical office, - Evaluation, monitoring and technical support, and - Project Management and publicity The Project Promoter is the Instituto da Habitação e da Reabilitação Urbana ,IHRU (Portuguese Housing and Urban Rehabilitation Institute). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project costs.
