SOLTGEST - Pilot project for the management and optimization of energy consumptions for the Tourism industry in Madeira

The purpose of the Project is implementing best practices in the field of optimised energy saving management system, with the overall objective of reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and reducing the polluting energy consumption in Madeira. Reference is made to the application, dated 10 May 2006 and correspondence with the Focal Point on 13 October 2006, 1 February 2007, 3 April 2007, 24 April 2007 and 1 June 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Establish the management team; - Preliminary studies on the energy consumption in Madeira and project pilots; - Carry out a public tender for the technical execution of the project; - Run an awareness campaign among stakeholders in the tourism sector; - Laboratory systems testing; - Development of software and the creation of a data centre; - Customisation of the installations of the pilot units; - Technical execution of the project; - Energy consumption monitoring and; - Implementation of efficiency measures on energy consumption. The Project Promoter is the Madeira Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Direcção Regional do Ambiente (the Regional Directorate for the Environment in Madeira) provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
