Project description: Gaweł is a producer of bolts, screws and rivets. The main objective of the project supported by GII programme is development of environment-friendly lamellar zinc coating technology - anticorrosion protection, provides an excellent alternative for electrolytic galvanizing methods. The project assumes also purchasing and commissioning of a modern production line. The power supply for the new production line will be based on renewable energy sources – photovoltaic panels leading to reduced consumption of electricity and consequently reduced CO2 emission. Project objectives: • Development and commercialisation of environment-friendly lamellar zinc coating technology, called Magni Flake system • Purchase of a new production line • Establishment of a photovoltaic farm to meet the energy requirements of the new line Outcome indicators: • Number of environmental technologies successfully applied for use in new areas - 1 • Green jobs created – 3 new green jobs • Reduction in CO2 emissions – 209 tones/ year
Summary of project results
The objective of the project was to implement an environmental friendly zinc coating technology, constituting an alternative to the electrolytic galvanizing method - an excellent alternative for electrolytic galvanizing methods. The project also includes purchase and launch of a modern production line, which will be powered from photovoltaic panels leading to reduced consumption of electricity and consequently reduced CO2 emission (209 tones/year). Apart of CO2 emission another “green effect” elements includes reduction of SO2 (0,4 Mg/ year) and NOX (0,2 Mg/year) usage, as well as reduction of hydrochloric acid use by 31,6 Mg/ year and nitric acid by 7260 kg/ year.
