"Development of an education network for the benefit of the environment and the conservation of the hermit beetle (Osmoderma eremita) within PLH 300001 Biedrusko area included in Natura 2000 network."

The purpose of the Project is to improve the level of environmental education to support maintenance of favourable environmental conditions in the Biedrusko area (PLH300001) forest habitats of the Natura 2000 network; with the overall objective of promoting and implementing principles of sustainable development through a more efficient use and management of resources. Reference is made to the application dated 25 March 2008 and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: (1) Development of an e-learning platform (Interactive E-learning Virtual Lab (WLIN)), including preparation of educational materials and training for teachers); (2) Establishment of the "Hermit Beetle Conservation Centre" in Lysy Mlyn; (3) Development of an exhibition devoted to the role of dead wood in forests; (4) Construction of an education path "The role of water in the environment", including preparation and publishing of teaching materials; (5) Purchase of equipment and furnishings; (6) Project management and publicity. The Project Promoter is the Forest Inspectorate of Lopuchówko (Nadlesnictwo Lopuchówko). Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in cooperation with the Bioorganic Chemistry Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre (Instytut Chemii Bioorganicznej Polskiej Akademii Nauk – Poznanskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe); Forest and Agricultural Environment Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Zaklad Badan Srodowiska Rolniczego i Lesnego Polskiej Akademii Nauk); Teachers Development Centre in Poznan (Osrodek Doskonalenia Nauczycieli w Poznaniu); District Authorities of Suchy Las (Urzad Gminy Suchy Las); Polish Society for Nature Protection "Salamandra" (Polskie Towarzystwo Ochrony Przyrody „Salamandra”) and the Department of Entomology, University of Life Sciences (Katedra Entomologii, Uniwersytet Przyrodniczy w Poznaniu). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 40.06 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
