Healthy mother and child – improvement of the perinatal care – education, prophylaxis, diagnostics and treatment at modern neonatology and obstetrics wards in Leborski Poviat'

The purpose of the Project is to offer better services for prenatal testing and early detection of congenital anomalies and genetic diseases of fetuses, with the overall objective of reducing mortality of fetuses and protecting the health of pregnant women and newborns in the Leborski Poviat. Reference is made to the application dated 15 April 2007, and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1) Implementation of a prevention programme consisting of two parts: a. prenatal tests of pregnant women (PAPP-A tests and ultrasound of nucal translucency) to detect congenital defects such as Downs syndrome, b. screen tests of neonates to detect congenital defects to the central nervous system or anomalies of internal organs; 2) Reconstruction of the Obstetrics, pregnant pathology and gynaecology ward; 3) Purchase and installation of equipment of the Obstetrics, pregnant pathology and gynaecology ward and the Neonatology ward; 4) Training of hospital staff; 5) Project management, audit and publicity. The Project Promoter is the Samodzielny publiczny Specjalistyczny Zaklad Opieki Zdrowotnej (Independent Public Specialist Healthcare Centre). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Leborski Poviat local government provides at least 15 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
