Prevention programme of civilisation-related diseases in the Bieszczady region

The purpose of the Project is to improve detection of breast cancer, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory disorders through implementation of three screening programs in the Bieszczady region, with the overall objective of reducing mortality and enhancing the quality of life in the region. Reference is made to the application dated 12 April 2007, and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1) Implementation of three prevention programmes: a. Breast screening and mammography program b. Cardiovascular screening program c. Respiratory disorder screening program; 2) Purchase of medical equipment and medical consumables; 3) Employment of staff for the screening programmes; 4) Promotional activities; 5) Project management, audit and publicity. The Project Promoter is the Samodzielny Publiczy Zespol Opieki Zdrowotnej w Lesku (Independent Public Health Care Centre). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Lesko Poviat Council shall provide at least 15 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
