Warsaw – the Capital of Cleanliness

The purpose of the Project is to raise level of knowledge on environment protection, in particular on the selective waste collection, in the city of Warsaw, with the overall objective of reducing the negative impacts local community waste has on the environment. Reference is made to the application dated 14 April 2008, and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The Project shall consist of the following activities and results: 1) Organisation of conferences, training and seminars 2) Implementation of a media and information campaign encouraging selective waste collection, 3) Implementation of a school program of ecological education; 4) Bilateral relations and participation in annual ecological fairs; 5) Project promotion; 6) Project management and evaluation. The Project Promoter is the City of Warsaw. Subject to national law the Project shall be implemented in partnership with Renovasjonsetaten (Norwegian Agency for Waste Management) in Oslo and Liga Ochrony Przyrody (Environmental Protection League) in Poland. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 15 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
