„Waste landfill adjustment to the applicable standards through equipping the facility base and the area reclamation”.

The purpose of the Project is to decrease the solid waste amount going to the local waste landfill through increased recycling, with the overall objective of improved economic efficiency and reduced air and water pollution from the landfill of the town and commune of Olecko. Reference is made to the application dated 4 April 2007 and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1. Rehabilitation and preparation of part of the landfill for construction of a waste sorting facility; 2. Establishment of a manual sorting line with conveyor belt; 3. Purchase of additional equipment for handling waste; 4. Purchase and installation of additional equipment for handling sorted waste fractions and 5. Publicity and management. The Project Promoter is Przedsiebiorstwo Gospodarki Komunalnej Sp. z.o.o. (the PGK Municipal Waste Management Company) in Olecko. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter shall provide at least 45.2 percent of the estimated eligible project cost.
