Improving the efficiency of Polish Environmental Inspection, based on Norwegian experience.

The purpose of the Project is to increase the productivity and quality of the inspectors' work, with the overall objective of improving the implementation and enforcement of environmental legislation in Poland through improved effectiveness of inspections. Reference is made to the application, dated 11 May 2006, and to correspondence with the Focal Point dated 2 October 2006, 9 October 2006, 17 January 2007, 16 February 2007, and 09 March 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - establishment of an effective system for handling inspection data; - development of clear procedures for the prioritisation and execution of inspections, with emphasis on specific sectors; - purchase of equipment for inspectors for on-site inspections; and - the completion of the development of a system for the dissemination of information to the general public. The Project Promoter is the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Poland. The Project partner is the Climate and Pollution Agency (Klif). The Focal Point shall ensure that Project Promoter shall provide at least 16.4 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
