The purpose of the Project is to achieve and maintain required telecommunication standards in the Border Guard units in order to execute efficient control of border traffic and protection of the State border, with the overall objective of upgrading the external EU border control in Poland to comply with Schengen requirements. Reference is made to the application, dated 6 July 2006 and further correspondence with the Focal Point on 16 August 2006, 28 August 2006 and 31 October 2006. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Preparing and carrying out tender processes; - Installation of equipment; - Training of personnel; - Management and project completion; - Replacement of outdated equipment with modern generation equipment at Border Guard posts; - Enabling border clearance of biometrical and e-documents, persons and vehicles on stationary border control posts and mobile border control units (vehicle units) with secure on-line access to external databases (SIS - Schengen Information System and VIS - Visa Information System). The Project Promoter is the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard. The Project Promoter shall provide at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
