PROTECTION AND CONSERVATION OF WRITTEN HERITAGE OF CIESZYN

Purpose of the Project: Securing all archive and library collections of Cieszyn and making them available for academic and cultural use, with the overall objective of preserving the European cultural heritage through the protection and conservation of written heritage kept in Cieszyn libraries and museums. Activities to be financed through the Grant: Through the Project, storing conditions of the collections will be improved through repairing and equipping storage facilities, conservation will be performed on selected objects within the collections, microfilming and digitalisation of the oldest and most used objects will be carried out, organisation and cataloguing will be performed, and exhibitions and other forms of promotional activities will be implemented. The Project Promoter is the Ksiaznica Cieszynska (the Library of Cieszyn). The Project Promoter shall provide at least 18.22 percent of the estimated eligible project cost. In addition to the application, Polish version dated 29 November 2005 and English version dated 18 March 2006, the awarding of the Grant is based on a reply from the Polish Focal Point to a request for additional information recieved on 24 May 2006, an external appraisal report compiled by Cross Czech and received on 21 September 2006 and comments from the Polish Focal Point and the applicant to the external appraisal report dated 29 September 2006.
