National information system of prisoners in Latvia

The purpose of the Project is to improve cooperation between prisons, police and judiciary through development of an electronical information system on prisoners , with the overall objective of improved security and reduced recidivism amongst former prisoners in Latvia. Reference is made to the application dated 14 July 2008 and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1. Development of information system; 2. Deployment of information system; 3. Information system security and data quality assurance activities; 4. Mutual information exchange with other judicial institutions; 5. Project management and 6. Publicity. The Project Promoter is the Latvian Prison Administration. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter shall provide at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible project cost.
