The purpose of the Project is to create the Vidzeme Continuing Education Technology Centre and a network of cooperating education institutions; with the overall objective to improve the quality, accessibility and supply of continuing education and to develop a sustainable management of continuing education in the Vidzeme region. Reference is made to the application dated 2 March 2007 and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1) Information gathering and research on the virtual and supplemented reality (VR) technology and their application possibilities in continuing education; 2) Establishment of the “Vidzeme Continuing Education Technology Center” and adaptation of the Vidzeme University College e-platform for the Project needs; 3) Survey of demand for continuing education programmes in the enterprises of the Vidzeme region; 4) Adult teacher training in the use of e-technologies in the development of continuing education programmes; 5) Development of training materials for 3 continuing education programmes using e-technologies; 6) Organisation of the student pilot training and evaluation of the study programmes; 7) Dissemination activities and development of foundation for an adult education management system in the region; 8) Project management (including publicity). The Project Promoter is Vidzeme University College. Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Valmiera Food Production Secondary School, the Valmiera 36th Vocational School, the Vidzeme Professional Education Centre, Valmiera City Council, Rud Upper Secondary School (Norway) and Agder University (formerly Agder University College) (Norway). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Valmiera City Council provides at least 4,75 percent of the total eligible Project costs and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia provides at least 10,25 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
