Establishmental of Environmental Modelling Centre in Riga Stradins University.

The purpose of the Project is to obtain a well established Environmental Modelling Centre providing training for students and employees of state institutions, with the overall objective of making more civil servants and private actors in decision-making positions use the pollution spreading modelling tool(s) actively in their work, with a view to enhance environmental protection and improve human health. Reference is made to the application dated 5 February 2007 and subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point dated 09 October 2007, 16 October 2007, 11 December 2007, 19 December 2007, 20 December 2007 and 9 January 2008. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1. Establishment of the Riga Stradins University Environmental Modelling Centre; 2. purchase of computer software on pollution dispersing modelling; 3. training of Environmental Modelling Centre employees in the use of modelling software; 4. development of educational material for a university programme in environmental modelling; 5. education of students and employees of state and municipal authorities in environmental modelling; 6. publicity activities. The Project Promoter is the Riga Stradins University, Institute of Occupational and Environmental Health ("Darba Drošibas un Vides Veselibas Instituts"). The Project Promoter shall implement the Project in partnership with the private company PSI Group Ltd. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 17.84% of the estimated eligible Project cost.
