Enhancing the information technologies of visa sections of diplomatic and consular representations of the Republic of Latvia, facilitating the introduction of SIS II.

The purpose of the Project is to enhance the IT infrastructure at Latvian diplomatic and consular representations, with the overall objective of contributing towards compliance with SIS II in the field of Schengen visa. Reference is made to the application, dated 19 June 2007, and any correspondence through the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Purchase of equipment (uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, laptops, satellite telephones, electronic key storage units, network filters and upgrades, central network filters, central firewalls); - Transport and installation of equipment; - Enhanced IT infrastructure in diplomatic and consular representations of the Republic of Latvia; - Project management (including publicity). The Project Promoter is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
