Conservation of Joniškis Red Synagogue and Its Adaptive Reuse for Public Needs

The purpose of the Project is the reconstruction of the Joniskis Red Synagogue and its adaptation for cultural, tourism and other public needs, with the overall objective of preserving a cultural heritage site and improving the tourist attractiveness of Joniskis district municipality. Reference is made to the application, dated 19 December 2008 and all subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Preparation of the technical project prior to the reconstruction; - Carry out a tender for public procurement; - Reconstruction works; - Management and publicity activities. The Project Promoter is the Joniskis District Municipality Administration. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Lithuanian Government provides at least 15 percent and the Project Promoter at least 10 percent of the total estimated eligible Project costs.
