Development of Adult Education in Municipalities to Reduce Social Exclusion and Regional Disparities in Lithuania

The purpose of the Project is to strengthen adult non-formal educational (NFE) services and stimulate inter-institutional partnerships between municipalities in the field of non-formal adult education, with the overall objective to create better preconditions for reducing social exclusion and diminishing regional differences in Lithuania. Reference is made to the application dated 6 September 2007 and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - creating, delivering and promoting three new modules of non-formal adult education in 10 municipalities - adapting, delivering and promoting three existing modules of non-formal adult education in 10 municipalities - implementation of municipal training activities in areas including legal literacy, entrepreneurship, parenting, language and artistic skills for municipal employees and general public - management, promotional activities and research report. The Project Promoter is the Lithuanian Centre for Adult Education and Information. Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the following educational institutions representing ten Lithuanian Municipalities: Alytus School for Youth and Adults, Kedeiniai Adult Training centre, Marijampole county Education centre, Pakruojis Adult Training centre, Plunge Adult training centre, Rokiškis Adult training centre, Šilute Adult training centre, Švencioneliai secondary school no 2, Taurage Adult training centre and Utena Dauniškis gymnasium. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project costs.
