The purpose of the Project is to monitor the HIV pandemic in Hungary, to develop an accredited HIV diagnostic system for HIV drug resistance in the National Centre for Epidemiology, and to promote therapies based on drug resistance, with the overall objective of fighting against the spread of HIV/AIDs in Hungary. Reference is made to the application dated 29 March, 2008 and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - establishment of a drug resistance detection method; - preparation and implementation of accreditation of the methodology; - work with HIV infected patients to test for drug resistance and plan for new treatments for these patients using genetic sequencing, and - management and publicity The Project Promoter is the National Centre for Epidemiology. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 15 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
