Recovery and restoration Segovia’s Aqueduct, city wall and surroundings, putting them to a more coherent use for tourism

The purpose of the project is to restore and adapt cultural heritage monuments and facilities in Segovia, with the overall objective of developing of Segovia’s tourism sector. Reference is made to the application, dated 14 December 2008 (actually 2007), and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - works to the aqueduct, including restoration works to the aqueduct (stone elements); the water mains and the water treatment house; establishment of a tourist route along the aqueduct (trail, rest areas, information panels) and recovery of green areas; establishment of an information centre; and installation of a bluetooth network for the audio guides; - works to the city wall, including restoration works to stone elements; restoration works to the Gates of San Cebrián, San Andrés, and Santiago; clearing and creation of a route, installation of information panels, and landscaping/recovery of green areas; - works to the Jewish cemetery, including the development of a route to link the Jewish cemetery area with the main tourism areas as well as a route around Segovia's Jewish Quarter, archaeological excavation, recovery of green areas and signposting; - works to industrial heritage sites, including renovation works to the Cabila Mill and restoration works to its equipment, the Cabila and Perla Mill dams and the irrigation water mains; establishment of an information centre and signposting of developed route; - studies and plans; - technical supervision and consultancy, including external technical and acquisition of general historical documents; - project management, including internal technical and external administrative, and administration costs, including office costs, office equipment (maintenance and purchase), cleaning; and - publicity. The Project Promoter is the Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Segovia (the Segovia City Council). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 50 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
