INNOVATION CENTRE OF CRETE (emphasizing the Management of Natural Resources)

The purpose of the Project is to establish the Innovation Centre of Crete in Chania to support awareness raising and research activities on issues related to the management of natural resources, with the overall objective of contributing to the promotion of innovative technologies and the creation of spin-off companies in the agricultural sector in Crete. Reference is made to the application dated 28 November 2008, and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - establishment of the Centre in Chania; - demonstration of innovative environmental technologies; - demonstration of innovative technological services; - demonstration of innovative production and product promotion; and - project management and publicity. The Project Promoter is the Technical University of Crete. Subject to national law, the project shall be implemented in partnership with the University of Crete, the Technological Education Institute of Crete, the Institute of Subtropical Plants and Olive Tree, the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, the National Interprofessional Organization for Olive tree and Olive Oil (EDOEE) and the Euro Innovation Partner AS (Molde Knowledge Park, Norway). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Government of the Hellenic Republic provides at least 50 percent of the estimated eligible Project costs.
