The purpose of the Project is to restore and renovate a Chios hospital building, for the operation of a special thematic museum of medical history, to display the importance of Greek medical and scientific advances, with the overall objective of preserving the history of medical science development as part of cultural heritage in Greece. Reference is made to the application dated 8 May 2008 and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - public procurement of reconstruction services and reconstruction and design work of the Chios hospital building for adaptation as a medical museum located at the corner of 110 Aigaiou Avenue and Nikoklaos Kouvelas Street, in Chios; - procurement, purchase and installation of infrastructure for the new museum for systems of sanitation, heating, and electricity; - procurement, purchase and installation of museum interior equipment, including furniture, display units, exhibit and IT systems; and - management and publicity. The Project Promoter is the Prefectural Administration of Chios. Subject to national law, the Project will be implemented in partnership with the General Hospital of Chios and the Medical Association of Chios. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Government of Greece provides at least 50 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
