The purpose of the Project is to implement a fully automatic PCR technology (technology used for the multiplication of nucleide acids) for the diagnose of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C viruses at the East-Viru Central Hospital with the overall objective to improve the capacity and safety of communicable diseases control in the North Estonia Region. Reference is made to the application, dated 11 June 2006 and to the Focal Point correspondence dated 20 July 2007, 9 and 11 September 2007, 8 November 2007 and 12 December 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - reconstruction of the tuberculosis department in compliance with international standards, including installation of a new ventilation system; - purchase and installation of three new laboratory devices; - provision of staff training; - management and promotion. The Project Promoter is the East-Viru Central Hospital Ltd (WTCH). The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 40 per cent of the estimated eligible project costs.
