"Reconstruction of the Onbashieva House as part of the Vassil Levski National Museum in Karlovo and popularization of the life and deed of the Bulgarian national hero Vassil Levski as part of the European cultural heritage"

The purpose of the Project is the renovation of the Onbashieva House to make it a part of the Vassil Levski National Museum in Karlovo, with the overall objective of popularisation of Vassil Levski and democratic values as part of the European cultural heritage. Reference is made to the application, dated 24 April 2008, and any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1) Reconstruction of the Onbashieva House 2) Organisation of a sculpture contest and construction of sculpture composition at the entrance to the memorial complex; 3) Development of a library and multimedia information centre; 4) Development of information databases and multi-language reference books; 5) Popularisation and information campaign on Vassil Levski; 6) Project management and publicity. The Project Promoter is the Municipality of Karlovo. Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the municipal Community Agency for Sustainable Development (CASD), Vassil Levski Foundation, Vassil Levski National Museum, and the Bulgarian-Norwegian Association. The Focal Point shall ensure that at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost are provided from the Bulgarian state budget.
