The purpose of the Project is to create a fire-protection monitoring system and information centre in the Pirin National Park, with the overall objective of improving the forest management and preserving the environment in Bulgaria. Reference is made to the application dated 25 April 2008, and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1. Research and evaluation of the Pirin National Park (flora, fauna and geology); 2. Purchase and installation of equipment (monitoring and fire protection system); 3. Creation of database and centre for information and monitoring (including staff training); and 4. Project management and publicity activities (including a conference). The Project Promoter is the Department National Park Pirin. Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Norwegian Forestry Group. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Bulgarian state budget provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible project cost.
