Installation of a Mobile Laboratory for Integrated Air Quality Monitoring and Management in Bourgas, Bulgaria: Improving Municipal Capacity for Monitoring, Reporting and Preventive Action

The purpose of the Project is to improve the air quality monitoring and management in Bourgas, with the overall objective of contributing to the reduction of air pollution in Bulgaria. Reference is made to the application dated 23 April 2008, and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: 1. Purchase and installation of a mobile laboratory for integrated air quality monitoring and management, 2. Evaluation of measurement network, database development, development of website with public information on air quality, 3. Conduction of training and best practices transfer, and 4. Project management and publicity activities. The Project Promoter is the Municipality of Bourgas. Subject to national law, the Project shall be implemented in partnership with the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU) and the Bulgarian Executive Environmental Agency at the Ministry of Environment and Water. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Bulgarian state budget provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible project cost.
