Strengthening Environmental Governance in Bucharest

Strengthening community participation in public policy making and implementation in the field of environment.Expected results- A Climate Network - created between City of Bucharest and 10 Norwegian municipalities in the county of Østfold involved in producing a Climate Plan under the coordination of the Askim municipality- Upgrading a medium- and long-term strategy for Bucharest based on sustainable environment principles, focussing especially on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and other emissions in air and water- A Policy Toolkit for policy makers and administrators which supports policy reform and environmental impact assessment in order to foster sustainable development and better conservation of ecosystems and diversity- Educating citizens, especially young people for increasing the responsibility and civic activism of the population for the protection of the environment. The educational part of the project is very important for its succes and for making a change in the perceptions and attitudes of the citizens
