„The Bastion of Executioner - the Flat of Ex., reconstruction and revitalization of historical area“

The purpose of the Project is the restoration of the Flat of the Executioner and the Bastion of the Executioner in Košice, with the overall objective of preserving the regional cultural heritage and strengthening local and regional development by revitalising the area. Reference is made to the application dated 17 March 2006, and to correspondence with the Focal Point dated 23 February 2007, 24 May 2007, 1 June 2007, and 20 June 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - procurement activities; - restoration of the Flat of the Executioner, including reconstruction of roof and roof support frame, strengthening of damaged walls, creation of an exhibition area with appropriate display units, etc.; - construction of a cross-bridge between the Miklus Prison and the Flat of the Executioner; - installation of a lift in the Flat of the Executioner; - development of a terrace area for visitors; - development of the area of the Bastion of the Executioner, including an archeological survey and urbanisation of the area, construction of two stages, roads/paths, lighting, rest areas, etc.; and - information and publicity activities. The Project Promoter is Košice self-governing region. The Focal Point shall ensure that the State budget of the Slovak Republic will provide at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
