View for the future. Early detection and treatment of eye diseases in children from Podlasie province

The purpose of the Project is to improve the quality of services provided, with increased accessibility to ophthalmologic care of children in the Podlasie province, with the overall objective of prevention and early diagnosis of children's eye diseases in the Podlasie province. Reference is made to the application dated 16 April, 2007 and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed project shall include the following activities and results: - Procurement and provision of new therapeutic and diagnostic equipment, which will be used for a mobile and regional treatment programme, purchased by the Ludwik Zamenhof Independent Public Children Clinical Hospital; - Training of paediatricians and nurses for eye disease prevention; - Organising testing and prevention programmes with approximately 30 rural communities in the province; - Project Management and publicity (which includes the health campaign public awareness programme). The Project Promoter is the Ludwik Zamenhof Independent Public Children Clinical Hospital of the Medical University in Bialystok. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter provides at least 25 percent of the total eligible Project costs.
