The purpose of the Project is the adaptation of the FCC test and optimization of the OXIBIOS test for analysing samples of polluted water, soil and solid airborne particles, and the development of the NHRTOX test for detection of hormonally active compounds, with the overall objective of improving environment protection by providing tools for automated monitoring and detection of environmental pollutants based on a cellular biosensor platform. Reference is made to the application, dated 9 August 2006, and subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point dated 25 October 2006 and 5 March 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Adaptation of the FCC (Fluorescent Cell Chip - existing biosensor environmental monitoring) platform for environmental testing - Development of the OXIBIOS (Oxidative Stress Biosensor - existing biosensor environmental monitoring) platform and its adaptation for environmental testing - Development of the new NHRTOX (Nuclear Hormone Receptor mediated Toxicity - new biosensor environmental monitoring) platform for detection of hormone-like substances in the environment - Miniaturisation and automation of measurements - Validation of the FCC, OXIBIOS and NFRTOX tests for environmental pollution monitoring The Project Promoter is the Centre for Medical Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education provides at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible Project cost.
