Improvement of the diagnostic radiology digital image transmission system and service accsessibility in primary and secondary health care within the framework of the National cancer control program in Latvia (DIGIM)

The purpose of the Project is the modernisation of diagnostic radiology infrastructure at the Riga Eastern Hospital and its partner institutions Valmiera Hospital and Health Centre 4 and the improvement of the digital image transmission system in the cancer diagnostic radiology in Latvia, with the overall objective of improving early cancer diagnostics and increasing access to associated services. Reference is made to the application, dated 5 March 2007, and to any subsequent correspondence with the Focal Point. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - Purchased and installed digital image procession work stations in all partner institutions; - Procured mobile mammography equipment; - Trained staff in partner institutions; - Implemented secure digital image archiving system; - Implemented country-wide cancer prevention information campaign; - Project management (including publicity). The Project Promoter is the Riga Eastern Hospital. The project will be implemented in partnership with SIA Vidzemes slimnica (Vidzeme hospital ltd.), Health Centre 4 and Norwegian Centre for for Integrated Care and Telemedicine. The Focal Point shall ensure that the Project Promoter and its partners shall provide at least 30.42 percent of the estimated eligible project cost; at least 15 percent of the estimated eligible project cost shall be provided by the Project Promoter and SIA Vidzemes slimnica (Vidzeme hospital ltd.). The indicated distribution between the Project Promoter and all partners is as follows: Project Promoter - 13.94 percent; SIA Vidzemes slimnica (Vidzeme hospital ltd.) - 3.55 percent; Health Centre 4 - 12.93 percent.
