Urban Refurbishment amb Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Hostalric

The purpose of the Project is to restore the medieval city wall and to develop a centre for cultural activities, with the overall objective of revitalising the historic centre of Hostalric and improving the infrastructure/services of the municipality for both residents and tourists. Reference is made to the application dated 13 September 2006, and to correspondence with the Focal Point dated 16 February 2007, 3 March 2007, and 18 May 2007. The completed Project shall include the following activities and results: - restoration of the medieval city wall, including demolition of illegal annexes built into the wall, replacement of windows and doors, development of a walkway for pedestrians, cleaning and reinforcing the stone elements and surface, restoring the damaged parts of the towers, etc.; - renovation of the old church/theatre into a multipurpose cultural centre, including renovation of the roof, restoration of the stone facade, creating new office space, etc.; and - restoration of the old church crypt, including excavation and cleaning. The Project Promoter is the Ayuntamiento de Hostalric.
