Since its start in 1997 Kosara -R Ltd.  is entirely focused on the textile industry, though specialised in lady’s clothing, unforms for schools, restaurants, hotels, work clothes, etc. Currently, the textile waste is generated mainly from the cutting operations at the company in which approx. 7% to 9 % is fabric waste. This, on the one hand, has negative economic consequences for the company - incurs additional expenses for the enterprise, increasing the cost of products and reducing profits, and hence affects the company overall competitiveness. On the other hand, the environmental footprint that the company leaves behind is significant.

The project addresses precisely this need for improving production efficiency through minimising waste leftovers and maintaining the economic value of products, materials and resources as long as possible in order to achieve higher competitiveness. This will be achieved through implementation of a new application of textile waste, namely its use for the production of new products. In particular, the company will process textile waste (fabric scrap and knitwear, technological waste) into a fibrous mass and then produce non-woven textiles, which find wide application in many different industries.

Following its strategy to increase the production capacity and improve the processes as well as to develop new products and minimize the negative environmental foot print from the production, the company is planning to invest in a production line for recycling of textile waste and production of nonwoven products.

The implementation of the project will result in prevention of over 100 tons per year textile waste disposal to landfills and nearly 50 tons per year CO2 prevented from release into the atmosphere.
